This week, we continue in our series about tables by looking at how we can extend the communion / close table into our homes by taking the role of host. We learn from the story of the feeding of the 5000 how Jesus invites into the role of host by being grateful, asking what we have to give and by focusing on the presence of Jesus. Luke portrays Jesus as one who announces and enacts Jubilee, so as the resurrected King, we expect Jesus to continue his Jubilee ministry to the world. However, Jesus throws the disciples a curveball when he announces he's leaving. In this week's teaching, we learn what this means for his disciples, for us, and for Jesus' Jubilee mission.
