Location: 808 E 19th Ave, Vancouver We meet in a historic Danish-style Chapel located between Kingsway and Fraser on 19th Ave in East Vancouver. There a bike rack out front, but the building is not outfitted for all accessibility needs. If you’re bringing a stroller or utilize a mobility aide, don’t hesitate to ask for assistance up the front steps. Most of the street parking is free and available - we ask you to be aware and kind to our neighbours.
Time: Our gathering starts at 10:05 AM, but almost everyone shows up just as or just after the gathering begins (so you’ll know it’s normal if you show up early). We end between 11:20 and 11:35 AM, but most people stick around to chat for 15-30 minutes after the service, so we suggest planning that you’ll be here til 11:45. We almost always have a group of people who go for lunch within walking diatcue of the chapel after the gathering, so listen for the Lunch Captain during announcements and join them for some good food with good people.
What to expect: We can’t make promises on what you’ll experience on a specific week, but, in general, we are a community church. For us, this means that rather than coming together for a performance or a ritual, we are a group of people who gather to know Jesus and know one another. We are generally folks who live in Vancouver and represent the diversity of cultures and stories of this rainy metropolis.
There will likely be between 75-150 people (on the smaller side during the summer) with a good number of kids. We really hope that someone will introduce themselves and welcome you to the community. People dress casually, as if they were heading over to a friend’s house.
Most Sundays we offer ASL interpretation by an interpreter or translation by a volunteer for our Deaf and Hard of Hearing members.
Our Sunday gathering is a time to connect, minister to one another, and come together around the story and table of Jesus. We usually start with a few songs, followed by short break when the children are dismissed, then a teaching from God’s story followed by a time of response in singing, taking communion, prayer and financial giving.
We have a vibrant youth ministry which is a partnership of several neighbourhood churches that meets on Wednesday nights. While we have between 20 and 30 youth involved, most of the youth attend their local churches on Sunday, so there are only a few at our own Sunday Gatherings.
We look forward to meeting you and learning and worshipping together.
